There really is a day for everything including the mouth-watering hamburger. The added bonus is it conveniently falls on a Friday and who doesn't love take-away on a Friday.
Before we get down to the nitty-gritty of where you can get some of the best hamburgers in Fortitude Valley, let's take a look at some trivia of this crowd favourite.
- The inspiration for the hamburger did come from Hamburg (Germany), the sandwich concept was invented much later.
- By the 19th century, beef from German Hamburg cows was minced and combined with garlic, onions, salt and pepper, then formed into patties (without bread or a bun) to make Hamburg steaks. These early burgers were considered gourmet and were quite pricey, given the quality of Hamburg beef.
- When German immigrants began arriving in New York and Chicago, many earned a living by opening restaurants. Menus frequently featured Hamburg steak, an Americanized version of the German offering. It was often the most expensive dish on the menu.
- McDonald’s sells 75 hamburgers per second!

Ze Pickle
Opening its doors in October 2012, Ze Pickle was the first dedicated craft beer bar on the Gold Coast and quickly also became known as the place to go for the best burgers in South East Queensland.
In the years following, new Ze Pickle stores opened in Brisbane & Sydney in order to supply their decidedly addictive fodder to a bigger crowd.
Going from strength to strength, the Ze Pickle boys have amassed a monster army of devout followers who not only share their same love for their inimitable Burgers & Bar Snacks, but for their amazing, rotating 12 tap selection of Craft Beer, unique selection of cocktail and wine and also awesome atmosphere thats always prevalent upon entering ZP.
Hashtag Burgers and Waffles
Hashtag burgers are different and that’s what makes them special, well that’s what Matt’s mum said back in 08 so they're running with it! It is based solely on this comment (thanks to Matt's mum) that Hashtag has decided to create a unique style of dining with amazing food and good old Fortitude Valley vibes!
Through many years of research, they have created a burger that they are proud of. They only source the best ingredients from good humans and run their business in the most ethical way possible.

Ben's Burgers
Ben's Burgers is a Fortitude Valley institution and so much so they have a following of 14K dedicated burger and fries fans on Instagram. Be sure to check it out as their imagery alone makes you hungry. This humble burger joint is located in Winn Lane which is worth a visit in its own right.
Big Roddy's Rippin' Rib Shack
Don't focus too much on ribs because they most certainly do burgers.
In 2015, Big Roddy’s began modestly as a small food stall at the original Boundary St markets in Brisbane’s West End. The boys followed the market scene all over Brisbane, satisfying Brisbane’s rib cravings for two years.
However, the constantly changing environment of Brisbane’s markets almost ended years of hard work and stopped Big Roddy’s in it’s track, but the boy’s continuous optimism and fun-loving spirit continued to fuel their motivation to take their business to the next level.
After many sold-out market evenings and positive community feedback, Big Roddy’s received enough of a response to have a crack at opening their own permanent restaurant.
